Serulean CMG - The Future of Shaving

The Future of Shaving

For years, stainless steel has been the best option for razors. It stays sharp longer, repels rust better, and stands up to impact better than anything that came before it. But the fields of material science have pressed on, and Composite Metallic Glass has outclassed stainless steel in shaving.

What is Composite Metallic Glass (CMG)

Composite Metallic Glass, or CMG, is an amorphous metallic material that forms irregular atomic structures. CMG’s unique properties and manufacturing make it useful for a variety of applications, including the world’s most premium shaving experience.

Serulean CMG is a Zirconium-based alloy made by [See LiquidMetal Website]. It is then ground to a razor’s edge and finished with a diamond-like carbon coating. The end product will hold a sharp edge longer, resist rust better, and stand up to the vicissitudes of daily use better than any razor that came before.

Edge Retention

Edge retention, or a blades ability to remain sharp after use, is critical in shaving equipment. A sharp edge provides a cleaner, smoother shave, and prevents cuts. Blades can dull in three major ways - wear, corrosion, and chipping.

As a blade cuts, the material slowly erodes away, especially from the thin apex of the blade. Stainless steel avoids this by employing a heat treatment to make the steel harder than whatever it’s cutting. The problem is human hair is a stressful medium to cut, and can quickly dull blades.

Edges also dull when they rust. Rust, or Iron Oxide, is formed when oxygen bonds with the iron in the steel. That makes the apex thicker, increases friction when cutting, and can easily flake away. All of that makes shaving harder and more dangerous.

Lastly, when edges encounter something hard or blunt, they can chip. When shaving, this can be anything from the other hygiene products in your dopp kit to being dropped in the sink or the shower.

But Serulean CMG, finished with its diamond-like carbon coating, stands up to the stressors that dull steel razors. Thanks to its unique atomic structure and composition, it wears less, is impervious to rust, and much more resistant to chips and cracks.
